Dr. Suresh Das
Dr. Suresh Das did his B. Sc. from University of Pune (1975), M. Sc. from University of Baghdad, Iraq (1977) and Ph. D from University of Newcastle, UK (1981). Subsequently, he gained postdoctoral research experience from the Max Planck Institute for Radiation Chemistry, Germany (1981-1984), University of Notre Dame, USA (1984-1985) and the University of Houston, USA (1985-1988). After a short stay as visiting fellow at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, he joined the Regional Research Laboratory, Trivandrum in 1989. His research interests are in the areas of photo sciences and photonics. He has been a visiting scientist at the Max Plank Institute for Radiation Chemistry, Germany, Radiation Laboratory, University of Notre Dame, USA and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan. He is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, President of the Materials Research Society of India and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology. Dr.Das is the recipient of the CRSI Bronze (2000) and Silver (2009) medals and the INSA-JSPS Visiting Fellowship (2003). He was also the Convener of the International Symposia on Photochemical Sciences in 1998, 2001 and 2004. Currently he is the Executive Vice President, Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) and Principal Secretary to Science and Technology Department, Govt. of Kerala.
