Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan

Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan currently serves as the Director of CSIR–NIIST in Trivandrum. Previously, he held the position of Director at the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management (NIFTEM-T) in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu from 2016 to 2022.  He completed his academic journey with distinction, obtaining a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from A.C. Tech, Anna University, Chennai, and an M.Tech. from Anna University, Chennai. For his doctoral research in Chemical Engineering, specializing in Food Engineering, he pursued studies at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, where he was honored with the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship Programme from the Government of UK.  Dr. Anandharamakrishnan’s research interests span a wide range of areas, including the design of engineered nano and micro-scale delivery systems for controlled and targeted release of food bioactive compounds, 3D food printing, engineered human dynamic gastrointestinal systems, glycemic index studies, spray drying and spray-freeze-drying of food products, and computational modelling of food processing operations.  He is a distinguished fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Royal Society of Chemistry, among others. His extensive expertise and contributions to the field of food technology and engineering have earned him recognition and respect in both national and international scientific communities.
